Wallace had discovered Qureshi\u2019s debut novel, The Lady or the Lion<\/em>, displayed at a Barnes & Noble, purchased a signed copy, and sent a heartfelt message of congratulations. This full-circle moment sparked a resurgence of confidence and purpose for Qureshi.<\/p>\n

In the email, Wallace conveyed how proud she was that a young student she once encouraged was now a published author. Qureshi, touched by her teacher\u2019s thoughtfulness, reflected on what Wallace had meant to her back then and what that meant now\u2014from the acknowledgments page of her book to the classroom where belief in her possibility had been planted.<\/p>\n

She recalls one of her fondest memories: staying after class one afternoon in middle school, when Wallace told her she believed in the extraordinary things Qureshi would one day accomplish. For a young Muslim student donning a hijab and feeling like an outsider, those words were both affirming and transformative.<\/p>\n

Now, with six books published and a seventh on the way in late August 2025, Qureshi is a testament to perseverance, authentic storytelling, and the profound influence of mentorship. She credits her success not only to her resilience, but also to the unseen champions in her corner\u2014past and present.<\/p>\n
